This dinosaur is the most complete theropod ever found in Asia. It was
one of the first of a group of dinosaurs known as therizinosaurs,
which are known for having really long claws on their hands. It had a
small head and more than 40 teeth, resembling those of Troodon, which
suggests that it was a carnivore. The teeth are unique as most
of the therizinosaurs have very few and they were almost surely
herbivores.
Although it lived in the
last part of the Mesozoic Era, it had some features similar to much
earlier dinosaurs and is considered by some
scientists to be a transitional species from the more traditional
looking theropods that were common in Asia
during the Cretaceous. It had a shortened tail, long neck, and small
skull, resembling in many ways the look of the much earlier
prosauropods.
